Finish these sentences.

1.  Plural means more  than one.

2.  The opposite of plural is singular .

3.  A noun is a name of something .

Give me an example of six nouns in our classroom.

Most nouns become plural with the addition of ‘s’ or ‘es’.  For example - hats, chairs, dishes, boxes.  There are rules about plurals.

Plural Nouns

Some nouns end in y. To make the noun plural, change the ‘y’ to ‘i’ and add ‘es’.

BUT… if the letter before the ‘y’ is a vowel, then you simply add an ‘s’ at the end.

Directions: Change the singular form of the noun to a plural form.

for our reading class , our group had to read a book about Shy high . We had to research through the book and look for the answers to answer the question. It took us a very long time to figure out were the answers . We manage to finish our work properly .

Preparing for college

Today during our middle block Andrew Patterson came to our school to talk to us about preparing for college . He started of by giving us some tips of the different subjects we would be doing once we start college . The types of subjects we talked about was English , science and Geometry . The reason why we talked about these three types of subjects was because we don't do these subjects in intermediate . Andrew Patterson showed us a video of a boy who gets paid just to speak. We watch one of his videos and it inspired me to try my best before I head to college . We had a great time learning about college .

Writing test

Waking up in the morning knowing that today was going to be our everfirst touch tournament .I went rushing around the house making sure I had everything prepared for this big day . I left home in a hurry , scared and worried that I would be late .

I got to school in a hurry , I   ran fast like speed of lightning running through the sky  to the hall because that's where our touch team was . We sat in two lines waiting to leave the hall . Once we had everything organised we had to walk to Dunkirk because we were competing in a competition . Our goal was to strive to try and come first place .

Once we arrived to Dunkirk we went to find a place to set up the tent . I was so afraid and nervous I had butterflies all around me . We headed to a spot where we could practice some drills for our game plan, the bell rang for our first game .

Our first game was against Tamaki primary . We were standing in our position waiting to start . Once we started we did our game plan and it worked , we got the first try . Once we scored the first try my butterflies was slipping away . They came running up to me which I knew that I had to touch them  . I touched her which made me think I wasn't going to let our team down . We played our best sharing the ball which made us win our first game . The score was 3 - 0 . Was felt joy in us , cheerful that we couldn't stop smiling .

After our ten minute break we went and stood in our positions for our next game . Our next game was against tamaki intermediate but the other team . This game was really challenging . Sweat was coming down our face and we were playing our game seriously. We score five tries and they score 2 tries . This game was really challenging but we tried our best and never gave up .

Winning all our games and ,making it to the finals was really exciting .We had time to practise again because we really wanted to come frist place . Our team was a really  good team because we communicate during our games , we help each other out when we didn’t know what to do and shared the ball which made us even happier .

At the end of the day we were really exhausted . We headed  down to the front to sit down because we had prize giving . Pt England  teams was really happy because we all manage to come first place . We were all proud of us selves because we put all our might for coming first place. We had joy and bliss in us going back to school .

My first rugby match

Walking to school knowing that today was my first  ever rugby game . Scared and nervous of what’s going to happened . The truth is its because I really didn't know how to play . Running to the team asking who’s nervous for this big day everybody seemed to be nervous so I was okay with that .

Once we left the school grounds all the girls were talking about how excited they were to play . I felt left out because I was the only one who didn't really know the game properly . sitting  down still as if I was a stature . I was really scared for this big day wishing I had never came to this rugby game .

As soon as we got to the field , All the teams were already there warming up for their first game . Watching them made more pressure on me  I just wanted all the games over and done with . While we were waiting we decided to do some drills to warm us up and ready for our first game .

Starting our first game against Viscount was a big match . We really wanted to win so we put all our energy into this game . Getting ready for the first kick hoping  that the ball won't come my way .  Catching the ball and running toward the player slowly made my butterflies slip away . losing the first game wasn’t the result we wanted but at least we put all our might into it .

Overall we felt al right losing 2 games and winning 3 . I felt happy because we didn’t give up on any of our games but the thing is we all tried our best to come into the top three . Our team went back to school with pride in us knowing that we were all happy and we tried our best even tho we didn’t get the result we wanted .

Sudoku

In our maths  class we have been given a  task to do Sudoku . What we have to do is in each box we had to do one to nine . But the hard challenge is we are not allowed to do the same number in each column and box . I had a hard time trying to figure this all out but I ended up finishing it .  At first I was confused I started all over again three times but once I got I had joy in me . I had a great time trying to get this done .

At the start of the day it was bright and sunny. We were standing at the start line getting ready to run. Butterflies were twirling around my stomach . Standing still with fear all over me wondering what I would come.

“Bang!”.We started jogging as  slowly as a snail.Still scared and nervous as if I was coming last . As I was half way I had sweat all over my face . Seeing other girls tired and stopping made more pressure on me , I felt like stopping but I wanted to push myself.

As I was close to doing my second lap , I stopped with pain in my legs and arms . I felt tired as if I had  been running for 10 minutes . I walked slowly to the gate getting ready to run again. I started running again pushing myself to not stop as I was running past a big crowed .

I felt tired wishing it was already over . I had to stop . I stop with anger in me wishing I was really fit . As I was  getting closer to the finish line I had happiness and joy in me .

Overall I was happy because I pushed myself to the finish line . I was exhausted but I am still glad that I went past the finish line not coming last . I Had a great time trying my best in the cross country run .

For our inquiry class we have been learning about charities . We had to pick two charities that we would like to share money with . The two charities we chose was Make a wish and star jam .The reason why we chose to do these two is because we thought it is interesting to learn about .

Body Paragraph

So far for our literacy class we have been creating our own logo design. We spent a lot of time planning  what it's going to look like , what colour it’s going to be and many other important things . We research some things to give us a good idea of what our logo is going to look like. After we finish that we had to follow the steps that was on the book called How To Design Your Own Logo .

First thing we had to do is make a list of things we really liked . Like for an example what I really like is playing sports so I put down something to do with sports . Once you list all of your favourite things you can draw some pictures next to your favourite thing to give you a fair idea of what your logo is going to do .

The second thing you do is draw some pictures that is the same size as your thumb . The reason why we had to draw it the same size your thumb is because it just supposed to be a rough small sketch . Once you draw at least 3 to 4 pictures  you have to pick the two that you like best and then judge which one has most of your personality .  

The last thing you do is draw your final logo design on Hyper studio . You have to draw it exactly what you did on your piece of paper . Once you have drawn it on Hyper studio you can add more detail like your favourite colour and other things you want to add to it .

Reading Progress

I'm at green stage and by next week I have to be at blue stage . What I have to do is demonstrate that I have attempted every part of my assignment . I have to at least complete more than 75% of my work .  I have to at least  ask for help . And the last thing is to post my work on to my blog .

We  were learning to use smart Google . We had to use key words to find out what we were looking for . We did this because we haven't been using alot of key words . After we finish that we had a chance to post it on to our blog .

Today our reading group had to learn all about explanation and WordPlosion  . What we had to do is explain something without using the  word  explanation . We went through each slide and talked a little about it . Once we finish that we rite what we thought in our own words what is happening . After all our hard work we had to go and post it .

What level I am at

Currently I am at level blue . My goal is to be at  level purple . I have been finishing of my work some of the times . When I am stuck I ask for help . I sometimes rite about what I do . What I need help on is  finishing of my work properly . What I need to do now is to concentrate on my work  and to finish it of properly .

In our reading group we learned about the underground soldier. We had to read  all about them and once we finish we had to answer the questions . we had to chose two story's  and then rite about it.  After we did all of this we had to post it on to our blog .

World war 1

My writing group decided to write a movie script to show some of the things we learnt about . WW 1.  Our movie is about the people who set off to war to save their country. We have been learning about the ANZAC soldiers and WW 1.  In our literacy class, we have been reading different stories about the things that happened during the war.  What I found interesting is that they use Geophones to keep track of their enemies . A Geophone is something with an ear piece connected to a disc shape microphone. When you move one disc around you can hear what they are saying or doing .

What I couldn't imagine is the people who starved ,that was cold and probably had very little to eat . Imagine you getting off the boat and straight away your friend die. How sad!

In zeal - zone we had to make a presentation about world war 1 . We had to list all of the equipment that they used in world war 1 . After we did our presentation we had to post it on to our blog .

Is Technology - Good or Bad

Today Mr Burt had a little talk with the year 7 and 8 students about technology . Mr Burt asked us if technology is good or bad . In my mind I thought it was good . Anyway Mr Burt had a grandfather who went to war , he showed a photo to all of the year 7 and 8 and another photo of Ms Flaval Grandfather   too .

He showed us pictures of ships that the British  would use in World War 1 and he showed another bigger and longer ship that Germany made . Then he showed us other loads of things that the British would make tanks , guns and planes  and then he showed  us another pictures  of the exact same thing but   bigger , stronger  and longer  that the Germany  made .

 Then he told us that back in the days they use to have bicycle , one with a big  wheel and  a small wheel at the back  . But then there was a new type of bike that came out it had two big wheels not a small wheel  a big wheel . Anyway he said that his grandfather was the first man to own a  bike like that isn't that really cool . Then he told us that girls weren't allowed to rides bikes because in the past they had to wear dresses .

After he told us his story he said that the British and the Germans were actually cousins . Isn’t that really sad they wanted to take over each other’s  country just because New Zealand  thought that they were tough with their ship and when it was on the newspaper  the germans heard about it and then they wanted to do a better one . Thats how they had world war .

Maths - Measurement

For maths we had to learn about measurements . We learn all the Vocabulary about measurement like  Kg , Km and many other things . Ms Peato gave us 5 questions to complete . I completed five questions and showed how I worked it out .

Zeal-Zone

Every Fridays team 5 gets split up in groups . We do this because we have something to do with Zeal - Zone . Today for Zeal -Zone I am in music .We are learning songs that people used to sing when it was war and comparing it to the songs we listen to in the present . The song we are learning is We'll Meet Again by Vera Lynn . It is a very slow jam song and it is kind of nice to listen to . After we learn the song we are going to perform in front of team five .

The reason why I chose to do this because I thought that the the two army people can represent the people that went to war  to fight for their country and that the two poppies on top at the corners can represent Flanders Field . This is what helps me remember all the people that saved their lives for our country and about world war 1  .

Polyfest

On our amazing trip to Polyfest  our school had heap's of fun. We did rock climbing , we had  free time for one hour to look around with our parent helper and we got to do some game's .

First thing we did that was fun was rock climbing . At first I keep on slipping of which was not cool but then on my third try I went really high . I could here class supporting  us but when I was up there I could not see the button . Once you push the button you have to come down . Anyway's because I couldn't see it I came down to let somebody else have a turn .

The next thing that was really fun is that we got to play game's when we were with the F lava Crew . The game was that you have to catch the ball with out falling it down but it was a tennis ball . We were so good she change it . We could only catch the ball with one hand .

And the last thing we did was we got to have free time for one hour. We had a parent helper who was really cool . She shouted  us Ice-cream which was really nice . At polyfest I had a really good time .

To day Miss Kyla challenged us to use different strategies to add numbers up the pyramid.  We had to insert a comment and write our strategy.  I noticed that I used timetables a lot which is what a Stage 6 and higher person would do, so that made me proud.

Polyfest

Kia Ora, Talofa lava, Malo e lelei, Fakaalofa lahi atu, kia orana, Bula vinaka, Namaste and greetings!!  It’s Pasifika week in Aotearoa, this means it’s a week long celebration of all things Pacific.  This includes the birthday dance we had with Mrs Tele’a!  Part of the celebration is the Polyfest!  This Thursday we are planning to travel to Manukau to take part in some workshops and then visit stages.  The two stages we will be visiting will be the Maori and Diversity stages.  Did you know that this event - the Polyfest celebrates 40 years since it’s beginning?  Awesome isn’t it!  

Young people and their Whanau participate in  this event to represent their culture . Some people do it to represent their school .

when people perform they always have their own stage . Some people when they perform they need 1 : confidence , practise , support and other thing's .

Polyfest encourage younger people to support their culture. polyfest is a place where people go to experience what other culture’s do and what they look like.

What I am looking forward to polyfest  is seeing other culture’s . I am looking forward to experience what other cultures do in their culture , What they wear and how they dance and perform in front of other people .

Finally The Moment I’ve been waiting for !

We woke up early in the morning feeling tired and lazy . We didn't want to get up because we were so tired we felt like sleeping through the whole day . But today was is a big day , the day I’ve been waiting for . Today was a big day because it was our cousin’s 1 birthday and we were going to perform for her . We had to leave  the birthday early and then head out to the car to get ready for the talent quest . I left with my cousin , uncle , aunty , brother and the church .

We were heading down to a place called Favona . Favano is a Tongan church that some of Siasi Tonga people go to . We had  a big day because we were going to dance , not just me but my relative’s  and the church . We thought that we were going to be performing 4 but on the day they changed it . So we ended up performing 11 . We were so angry we wanted to go back  to my cousin’s birthday but we were already at the talent quest and we couldn't of just go  back to the birthday and then come back after that’s just not right . We felt like cancelling the talent quest because it was our cousin’s first birthday and we missed out the whole thing.

Anyway during our practise we try to do the best that we can do . We practise for about two hours or half a day and after we finish practising for the dance we go and practise for our tag tournament . The song we choose to dance  to was called  just a little bit . It was a cool classical song . Our uniform’s were really cool too. We had a white half long sleeve T- shirt and  orange pant’s that look like genie pant’s but with black patterns on it  .  The boy’s had a red t-shirt and black swag pant’s which was not fear .

Luckily I just remembered We had to sing our song first  . We sang three songs but harmonise  it . The boy’s sang the low part the girls that are in college and me sang the median part and the girls that are twelve and under sang the high part . Everybody that was watching said that G.I  had the best songs to sing . I was really nervous when we had to go up  but now that it is over and done with I am happy now . But then there is one more thing we had to do we our dance . We got change out of our clothes and put on our clothes that we were going to dance in .

We waited and waited until it was our turn. I was so scared I felt like I was standing in front of million’s of people , But really it was just a crowed of people waiting for us to perform. We got up on top of the stage standing there waiting for the song to start.  The song started we all started to do our dance. everybody was enjoying our dance . We dance for like three minutes. To be honest I thought that we were the best so far . At the end of the day they had to pronounce who came first for the singing and dancing. Here it goes , ‘’1 place for singing is Glen Innes’’ we all jumped up with happiness because we came first for singing but when they announce the winner for dancing we came 2 place.Everybody started to get angry because the rest of the performance was so boring . Anyway’s we had a good time at the talent quest and we thought we did really well . Thats how we ended our day at the talent quest .

What I Like About Week 3

'' What I like about week 3 ''

The most thing I like about week 3 is how we get to go to different classes . We go to different classes because we have literacy and mathematics . But after we finish our literacy and mathematics we go back to our normal classes . I like Fridays mostly because we get to go to our zil zone  groups . Zil zone is a fun thing to do I mean like we get to communicate with other people and learn interesting thing's. After we have Zil - Zone we have a  softball tournament . Softball is a fun , fit and amazing game . And that's what I like about week 3 .

The top left is about my culture . The reason why I did a picture of my culture is to show what culture I am .  I drew a picture of a Tongan flag and drew flowers on the out side. To represent Tonga. 

The top left is to show that I go church . Every Monday's and  Friday's I have church for 30 minute's and every Wednesday I have church for 1 hour. But on Sunday's I go to Sunday school for about 30 minutes and then we start church at 11 and finished at 1 or 2 .

The down bottom on the left is to show That I like  to play sport's. I like to play Tag , Basket ball , Rugby , netball and Rippa Rugby . The reason why I  choose to do sport's is because I like playing sport's and that I think it makes you fit and a better person. 

The bottom right is to show my family. In my family There is 6 of us. There is 2 boy's and 2 girl's. I am the second to youngest out out of my family . 

And for the picture in the middle it is to represent me. I am katalina . I come from Pt England school . I did all created all of this to show who I am , what culture I am , What I like doing and to show a lot about my family.
