Polyfest

On our amazing trip to Polyfest  our school had heap's of fun. We did rock climbing , we had  free time for one hour to look around with our parent helper and we got to do some game's .

First thing we did that was fun was rock climbing . At first I keep on slipping of which was not cool but then on my third try I went really high . I could here class supporting  us but when I was up there I could not see the button . Once you push the button you have to come down . Anyway's because I couldn't see it I came down to let somebody else have a turn .

The next thing that was really fun is that we got to play game's when we were with the F lava Crew . The game was that you have to catch the ball with out falling it down but it was a tennis ball . We were so good she change it . We could only catch the ball with one hand .

And the last thing we did was we got to have free time for one hour. We had a parent helper who was really cool . She shouted  us Ice-cream which was really nice . At polyfest I had a really good time .

To day Miss Kyla challenged us to use different strategies to add numbers up the pyramid.  We had to insert a comment and write our strategy.  I noticed that I used timetables a lot which is what a Stage 6 and higher person would do, so that made me proud.

Polyfest

Kia Ora, Talofa lava, Malo e lelei, Fakaalofa lahi atu, kia orana, Bula vinaka, Namaste and greetings!!  It’s Pasifika week in Aotearoa, this means it’s a week long celebration of all things Pacific.  This includes the birthday dance we had with Mrs Tele’a!  Part of the celebration is the Polyfest!  This Thursday we are planning to travel to Manukau to take part in some workshops and then visit stages.  The two stages we will be visiting will be the Maori and Diversity stages.  Did you know that this event - the Polyfest celebrates 40 years since it’s beginning?  Awesome isn’t it!  

Young people and their Whanau participate in  this event to represent their culture . Some people do it to represent their school .

when people perform they always have their own stage . Some people when they perform they need 1 : confidence , practise , support and other thing's .

Polyfest encourage younger people to support their culture. polyfest is a place where people go to experience what other culture’s do and what they look like.

What I am looking forward to polyfest  is seeing other culture’s . I am looking forward to experience what other cultures do in their culture , What they wear and how they dance and perform in front of other people .

Finally The Moment I’ve been waiting for !

We woke up early in the morning feeling tired and lazy . We didn't want to get up because we were so tired we felt like sleeping through the whole day . But today was is a big day , the day I’ve been waiting for . Today was a big day because it was our cousin’s 1 birthday and we were going to perform for her . We had to leave  the birthday early and then head out to the car to get ready for the talent quest . I left with my cousin , uncle , aunty , brother and the church .

We were heading down to a place called Favona . Favano is a Tongan church that some of Siasi Tonga people go to . We had  a big day because we were going to dance , not just me but my relative’s  and the church . We thought that we were going to be performing 4 but on the day they changed it . So we ended up performing 11 . We were so angry we wanted to go back  to my cousin’s birthday but we were already at the talent quest and we couldn't of just go  back to the birthday and then come back after that’s just not right . We felt like cancelling the talent quest because it was our cousin’s first birthday and we missed out the whole thing.

Anyway during our practise we try to do the best that we can do . We practise for about two hours or half a day and after we finish practising for the dance we go and practise for our tag tournament . The song we choose to dance  to was called  just a little bit . It was a cool classical song . Our uniform’s were really cool too. We had a white half long sleeve T- shirt and  orange pant’s that look like genie pant’s but with black patterns on it  .  The boy’s had a red t-shirt and black swag pant’s which was not fear .

Luckily I just remembered We had to sing our song first  . We sang three songs but harmonise  it . The boy’s sang the low part the girls that are in college and me sang the median part and the girls that are twelve and under sang the high part . Everybody that was watching said that G.I  had the best songs to sing . I was really nervous when we had to go up  but now that it is over and done with I am happy now . But then there is one more thing we had to do we our dance . We got change out of our clothes and put on our clothes that we were going to dance in .

We waited and waited until it was our turn. I was so scared I felt like I was standing in front of million’s of people , But really it was just a crowed of people waiting for us to perform. We got up on top of the stage standing there waiting for the song to start.  The song started we all started to do our dance. everybody was enjoying our dance . We dance for like three minutes. To be honest I thought that we were the best so far . At the end of the day they had to pronounce who came first for the singing and dancing. Here it goes , ‘’1 place for singing is Glen Innes’’ we all jumped up with happiness because we came first for singing but when they announce the winner for dancing we came 2 place.Everybody started to get angry because the rest of the performance was so boring . Anyway’s we had a good time at the talent quest and we thought we did really well . Thats how we ended our day at the talent quest .

What I Like About Week 3

'' What I like about week 3 ''

The most thing I like about week 3 is how we get to go to different classes . We go to different classes because we have literacy and mathematics . But after we finish our literacy and mathematics we go back to our normal classes . I like Fridays mostly because we get to go to our zil zone  groups . Zil zone is a fun thing to do I mean like we get to communicate with other people and learn interesting thing's. After we have Zil - Zone we have a  softball tournament . Softball is a fun , fit and amazing game . And that's what I like about week 3 .

The top left is about my culture . The reason why I did a picture of my culture is to show what culture I am .  I drew a picture of a Tongan flag and drew flowers on the out side. To represent Tonga. 

The top left is to show that I go church . Every Monday's and  Friday's I have church for 30 minute's and every Wednesday I have church for 1 hour. But on Sunday's I go to Sunday school for about 30 minutes and then we start church at 11 and finished at 1 or 2 .

The down bottom on the left is to show That I like  to play sport's. I like to play Tag , Basket ball , Rugby , netball and Rippa Rugby . The reason why I  choose to do sport's is because I like playing sport's and that I think it makes you fit and a better person. 

The bottom right is to show my family. In my family There is 6 of us. There is 2 boy's and 2 girl's. I am the second to youngest out out of my family . 

And for the picture in the middle it is to represent me. I am katalina . I come from Pt England school . I did all created all of this to show who I am , what culture I am , What I like doing and to show a lot about my family.
